At the end of October I jumped on a train from Glasgow and travelled five hours down to dirty ol’ London and showed up at the House of Lords (the belly of the proverbial Beast), with an invite no less, for the winner’s ceremony of the 2024 ‘Film the House’ UK film competition. Up for ‘Best Film Script’ was my the screen adaptation of my debut novel, Meat.
The script was written a year or two after the novel and has gone through various edits since; the ‘Film the House’ festival was the first competition it has been entered in.
Guys, this intrepid writer did not take home the prize, but nevertheless, this little victory has given him renewed impetus to get the work, come hell or high water, to the big screen.
Big things are coming. The apocalypse is inevitable. Strap in and get your forks at the ready.
